Why the WIZZIT mobile application, based in Johannasburg South Africa, can help create wealth in the worst hit poverty ridden communities of the world, including the UK.

I grew up in Liverpool and as anyone who ever visited Speke will tell you - it’s unbelievable to witness just how bad it is, even though the people that live there will tell you - it’s not that bad.

What we love about WIZZIT is they promote their service like microcredit organisations - employing local unemployed people to hit the worst affected regions, showing people how they can easily open a bank account utilising a mobile phone, manage their money, and ultimately look after their families.

Every feature of the WIZZIT account is accessible via your mobile phone, no matter how old it is or which network you’re on.  If you want to make a payment, check your balance or even buy prepaid mobile airtime, it’s just a few button presses away.  That’s what makes WIZZIT so easy to use.  If you can text, you can use WIZZIT.

We had no idea till yesterday just how many people were refused bank accounts in the UK last year. Let’s just say figures for the unbanked run into a couple of million and rising.

We are big on applications in the UK which ‘include the socially excluded’. That’s why at myehive.com we allow sellers the option to pay for their goods via “another method” other than paypal CC or DC. At the moment this only includes postal orders (available from any post office counter - no bank account required) and cash on collection.

Are you familiar with any mobile applications in the UK? Which allow transfer of £ from one person to another via mobile?

Thanks to Cian Mac Eochaidh @cianm at www.tribecapr.co.za and @mikesharman at www.fireflycomms.com for their help on spreading the word on this amazing app.
